Darmstadt, 11. August 2010 − Software AG announced the global launch of its latest University Relations project in 40 institutes and 15 countries today. The company’s University Relations Program is designed to enable educational institutes to provide cost effective, real work experience to all students by recreating a virtual economy on campus. The program provides access to practical work skills to students that would find it hard to secure a short term external workplace. The program is built around bringing “real economy” challenges onto campus and giving the students the training, skills and freedom to develop creative and innovative solutions. The latest virtual campus project will be launched in 40 institutes on 5 continents throughout 2010 after successful pilot projects in Germany and Brazil. The Universities of Darmstadt, Leipzig and São Paulo presented their successful pilot project results today.

“Universities are finding it increasingly difficult to place all students in external, high quality work experience positions,” said Juergen Powik, Director of University Relations at Software AG. “Our program is designed to create a virtual economy on campus and bring real economy issues and experiences to the students. It is a very cost effective way of providing practical experience to students and we are delighted that our latest project, a virtual campus management system, successfully passed its proof of concept phase and can be launched globally.” The pilot projects bridge continents to bring German and Brazilian students together: The University of Leipzig and Darmstadt University of Technology represent Germany's participating institutions, in
Brazil it's the University of São Paulo (USP). Now students will present the results of their projects in a final presentation on August 11, 2010. Over 50 attendees are expected, including Prof. Franczyk from the University of Leipzig as well as Prof. Sackmann from the University of Halle, which has signed up to conduct its own project in the coming winter semester.

A number of universities from around the world will join the project in the next academic term – the University Relations department at Software AG reports 19 new registrations and expects to see 30 to 40 projects by the start of next winter semester. Over the last three years, more than 90 projects have been conducted at various universities worldwide as part of the University Relations Program.

Software AG's University Relations Program provides real work experience in a virtual economy
