Santiago de Chile , 12 de Enero de 2010 – Apia BPMS® has been chosen once again by the Chilean Government to improve the processes and guarantee a satisfactory level in the services offered to the community, through JUNAEB.
Since the last days of December, STATUM together with its Chilean partner, Cognus, started working on a project for JUNAEB, (Junta Nacional de Auxilio Escolar y Becas) [National Board of School Support and Grants], which manages and delivers the different Grant Programs to help the most vulnerable kids from Chile, and also contributes providing equal opportunities in the educational process.
STATUM together with its partner Cognus are leading this project after winning the bid. Once the technical and functional analysis finished, Apia was the tool chosen to continue with Chile’s public administration reform.
About the project
The Grants Program is made up of a series of processes in which several elements participate. In order to have access to the different support education programs that JUNAEB offers, students apply through the network of collaborators with which the project works. These applications go through a screening process, and at the end, the grants are given. Some of them are given periodically throughout the year and others through intermediaries, that is, to Schools, to the University of Chile, etc. The users receive the benefits, which consist of money, via State Bank, whether it is by making a deposit in the student’s savings accounts, or via credit transfer, which is also performed by the same bank.
The aim of the project is to analyze, design and implement a computer-based information system for the Grants Department, so that it allows a comprehensive execution of the processes, by capturing and handling information for its online management.
The project is heading towards implementing a solution that allows achieving fluency and fastness in the processes, through Apia tool, assuring a good level in the services and/or key business requirements, an ongoing improvement, and top quality of the institutional processes.
The project must consider the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and “Kick off” of the processes that manage all different situations that students may present regarding the acquisition of benefits and which particularly supports the helping workflows which are necessary in:
- Program design,
- Program announcement,
- Applications/Awards/Renewals
- Payments
- and others that can be generated
Currently, the program is on the analysis and diagnosis phase, which is expected to last six months.

JUNAEB, is an organism of the State Administration, created in 1964 by Act Nº 15,720, which is responsible for administrating the state resources which are destined to help the most bio-psychologically vulnerable kids from Chile, so that they can get in, remain, and be successful in the Educative system.
