SAARBRÜCKEN,
7 de septiembre de 2006 - As part of a series of IT structural
changes, the Volkswagen Group is implementing a standardized, tool-supported
IT architecture management system. The automotive manufacturer's
goal is to make the interaction of IT strategy, systems and business
processes transparent and to optimize this interplay. In order to
achieve this, the Group is calling upon the products and consulting
services of IDS Scheer. The international solution provider for
processes and IT is using the modeling and analysis tools of the
ARIS Platform to harmonize the VW Group's systems. These tools include
ARIS IT Architect, which is currently being developed in close partnership
with VW and Audi. The automotive manufacturer received recognition
for the project at ProcessWorld Europe '06 in the form of the Business
Process Excellence Award (BPE Award) for Business Process Design.
As
part of the changes to its IT structure, the VW Group has set itself
the objective of improving the interrelationships between business
processes and the supporting IT systems. In the future, the interaction
of existing work processes and the use of specific system components
will become more transparent. And not only that, the VW Group's
IT landscape will also be aligned with the needs of operational
business. The IT architecture management system required for this
throughout the Group was implemented at the end of July at AUDI
AG in a process-oriented manner and using the ARIS Platform as a
basis. It is now used in operational business.
ARIS
is already used as standard for Business Process Management at the
Audi subsidiary and will also be introduced at Volkswagen. The professed
objective of Klaus-Hardy Mühleck, CIO of the Volkswagen Group, is
to implement the process-oriented IT strategy used at Audi throughout
the company. To introduce the IT architecture management system,
the ARIS Platform is therefore also being implemented as supporting
software rather than a best-of-breed solution. "The integration
of process and IT information is the crucial success factor in aligning
the IT landscape with the needs of operational business and achieving
the associated savings potential," emphasizes Mathias Stach,
Chief Architect for the Audi brand group. "ARIS provides optimum
support for this integration."
The
challenge lies in categorizing a landscape of over 3000 IT systems
throughout the Group and creating the basis for subsequent harmonization
and standardization. As part of planning for production of the successor
to the A4, this integrated information will then be used operationally
for the first time. Audi is using ARIS IT Architect for these tasks
- a new product from the ARIS platform design level. This is being
developed as part of a close development partnership with the VW
Group to meet project requirements, and will also expand the IDS
Scheer offering where IT architecture management is concerned.
Dr.
Wolfram Jost, Member of the Executive Board and Head of Product
Strategy and Development at IDS Scheer AG: "Enterprise Architecture
will be a core topic as part of the further development of our products.
Our integration-based approach has already been implemented for
customers and also analysts. It is only those who take into consideration
the ability to integrate process and IT information when choosing
a tool which will create the basis for a sustainable architecture
management system." The Volkswagen Group received recognition
at ProcessWorld Europe '06 in Amsterdam in the form of a BPE Award
for the successful progression of its forward-looking project. For
its integrated analysis of IT strategy, IT technology and business
requirements, the automotive manufacturer was awarded the prize
in the Business Process Design category.
